What happens when a "key" American general is killed? Does the military collapse? Does America renounce militarism? Don't they have ten thousand more to choose his successor from? What possible difference does the killing of one or ten "key" American officers make when replacement is automatic? What can the killing of "key people" do to stop an idea?

Yet the newspapers are awash with news that "key" Hamas or Al Qaida or Taliban leaders are being killed...what does this do to stop their movements? rather it encourages and inspires others to join...as would happen anywhere else. The killing of "key people" is just killing of people..it is glorying in murder...giving the folks back home something to make them want to keep on killing...as if, as regretable as it was, it was working and would soon lead to some kind of victory over "enemies" and peace.

Same is true in the Drug Wars....does the murder of any leader of a Cartel or gang spell the end of the a drug supply? Are there not several leaders-in-waiting to take his place? The thing is so damn lucrative that there will never be any trouble in finding others to pick up any slack.

Even the death of Hitler, Mussolini and Stalin did nothing to stop the march of Fascism....those somewhat clumsy early proponents were replaced by slick and photogenic and market-advertised "compassionate conservatives" and several billionaire "politicians" who found being elected to office far more effective than coups or putsches.

Fascism marches on despite the death of "key" leaders...and so too will opposition. No war ever ended in peace.
