I just had a wonderful time in the park with my son, watching Shakespeare under the stars.

While I was there, however, I had no idea I was missing all the fireworks here!

Just when I thought there was nothing left for anyone to prove to the world, along comes a big surprise!

Thanks brother Ashur Beth-Shlimon, for your vote of confidence. You are right, I did not engage in idiocy, lunacy, terrorism, or anything of the sort. I didn't delete anything YET, and I don't think that was Alan accusing me of deleting his post, either.

...it wasn't.

I have a lot of patience and tolerance, even for madness.

...so do I. You'll recall how much of it I withstood from you and your ditzy brother.

I try my best to be fair and democratic, because I am strong and fear nothing and no one.

...say it often enough and, like Bush, it might come true.

As you all know, there's nothing anyone can say or do to me that has not been said and done before by Assyrians, but still I rise.

...well then you can just rise one more time.

I have tried ALL Assyrian forums and never found democracy, only abuse, dictatorship, and thuggery, which is why I was hoping that we would all have an alternative in SpeakAssyria.com

..get off it! You were the loud mouthed one....and none of your posts was ever touched...you left because you reached the end of your rope...you dish out easily enough but can never take it in kind.

...a poem...a POEM was removed...there was no mention of you in the poem...no swear words...no "filth". It was removed because you or your hirelings didn't like the meaning of it...they felt "insulted".

Just to let everyone know how far I have gone out of my way to find a server that would accept the sort of website where anything goes, I have moved the website TWICE, paying extra money so that you would all enjoy a FREE forum, where you could say or do anything you want, but we couldn't find one.

...bull. There are plenty. Let me know and I'll get you several...and cheaper too. You removed a POEM...no one BUT an Assyrian would have been offended by it...no one "demanded" that poem be taken down EXCEPT an Assyrian...a "hero" no doubt.

The best we could come up with was this, which is bound by rules and regulations, which must be followed or else we will be shut down.

...more bull. Take a little responsibility...the poem had not a single "bad" word in it...and all forums have people uysing much worse language than "jackass"...who you trying to kid, Jassim?

Many of us were banned, deleted, and humiliated on other forums, which is why I started this one for all of us.

...at your worst you were never banned from our forum...you left of your own free will...when things got too hot for you...but they were far hotter for your "dear people" of Iraq....

But we are bound by rules and this the reason I posted them on the homepage, and put a disclaimer.

...your server did not make up those rules...you did. That poem had NOTHING objectionable to it...not by any "rules" your server has...those are YOUR rules.

I really would hate to ban anyone, but more importantly, I would hate to have you all shut down because of some individuals who do not care about the rights of others expressing themselves freely without abuse.

...just go back and read aina's rules...and bethsuryoyos...and mes...you sound no different...they too struck a hallowed pose..they too gave "reasons". But thank you.

Democracy carries responsibilities with it. In a democratic society there are rules, and those who break them are punished by society. However, my hope was and still is that people will behave in a civilized and responsible manner, given the opportunity. If I am wrong, this forum will prove it in time.

..you are wrong from the start...in our kind of democracy, poems still count. There was no reason to remove that poem...except that you too "don't like" the content...which is the same excuse given for banning YOU from the other forums...but not our's.

What this forum has already begun to show is that you are like all the rest...each of you thinks HE or SHE has it "right",,,has excellent reasons for engaging in censorship. The word "jackass" isn't actionable ANYWHERE...I can call Bush a jackass...as you did several times, anywhere and not be hassled...except on this forum of youyr's...where you can call Bush a jackass but NOt Ashur beth Barsin.

Seeing Shakespeare's AS YOU LIKE IT this evening was certainly profound, and hearing the famous speech, "All the world's a stage, and everyone in it is an actor," I am reminded how true those words ring!

...keep it up then.
