...this was the seventh year...again at the Ritz-Carlton in San Francisco. Attendence was down from a 450 high of one year ago. There were more then 275 people at this one, and that's with a ticket price of $325...all things considered, what with the economy and all, it was a success.

...The only down side was a speech by Edward Odishoo who is a legitimate linguist but the same old, dreary jackass when it comes to nationalism....I couldn't bear more than five minutes and walked out to the foyer to chat with Narsai. Apparently Odishoo had given a good talk some time earlier in Modesto about a subject he is familiar with; linguistics. But, like the rest of them, couldn't resist stepping over into history and making a mess there. He too echoed that ridiculous claim that in Iraq we are "losing our language". They all say this when it is in Iraq that we KEEP our language and in the West where we lose it...that's right; among Muslims and "bad" Arabs our children learn to speak and write and read their language with pride...but among friendly and free Christians, with not an "enemy" in sight these dweebs can't get their kids interested in the language....in 150 years of immigration to Christian countries not ONE language school has been built, until in Australia recently and even that one is simply an excuse to teach kids nationlaist crap...and religious crap.

The silent and live auctions brought in $51,000 with two sculptures by yoors trooli accoounting for $19,000. I donated a sculpture and Narsai donated one of mine from his personal collection. The actual total, including ticket sales, will be known soon.

The food was good, Walter Aziz can't sing his way out of a wet bag. There in no one, NO ONE who sings like Ashur Bet-Sargis....certainly not Aziz. This was the first time we saw a shey-khaneh line snaking between the chairs...the music was too loud, as usual but at least the boobs were sedately displayed, for the most part.

In seven years these dinners have raised over $750,000.00 for Christians in Iraq...and several million from other sources in money and goods.
