to think the United States wants a "robut democracy" or economy in the MidEast is to think Bill Gates wants a robust and healthy Intel.

In a democracy minorities cannot have their own representatives...that's why Assyrians are pissed at Anna Eshoo...they believe that as an Assyrian she should be THEIR representative. They're thinking in terms of the old millet system..or when a dictator appoints someone to represent a minority...but no elected official can represent only a minority..he or she is elected by the PEOPLE in the district...not by the minority as a whole.

Democracy simply means majority rule, rather than minority rule...that's all. If people want protection for minorities they have to build in something like our Bill of Rights...and we can see that America STILL does not grant equal rights to its minorities...as, for instance, the Gay community which is being denied the right to marriage which all citizens should enjoy...what do they want from Iraq?
