A lot of the Assyrian refugees in Syria, Jordan and other countries are being told to go back to Iraq because they said they left Iraq because of Saddam. Now Saddam has been gone and there is "freedom" and democracy and taxes, free market capitalism, and everything that comes with it. They screwed themselves when they left in the 90s and then after the invasion in 03. And from the standpoint of the rescue agencies, they have a valid point. Saddam is dead and the country is occupied by the US so just go back. This has been the case with many of them who been told to go back now. Some of them been in surrounding countries since the 90s waiting to taste freedom in the US but it's not happening. They can taste it in Iraq now because it is becoming like America. A friend of mine went to Iraq and came right back saying you have to pay for everything now and services suck. Of course they suck and what did they expect? Had Iraqis stood by their government, behaved and supported their country, the US could never have taken it. You don't take a country of 28 million, most of them of military ages with 100,000 troops, but Iraqis betrayed their countries and Christians will get it most because they share the religion of the occupying forces and supported it.

They support US policies but those policies are bringing in radicals to replace the secular leaders. As you said, they should convert and they may as well. They already believe in fairy tales so why not another of such absurd beliefs. As a Christian from Ethiopia once asked me about my conversion to Islam, he asked me what's so different and he was right but I didn't know. I believed in one bullshit story from birth and then freely accepted another one which seemed a little better. I don't even know why the hell they would wanna live there as Christians to begin with. They don't belong there and they're sure as hell not getting an independent state in that region no matter how many letters Aprim writes.

They don't need a country of their own anyways because if it is about preserving language and "history" as they say, then why haven't they done it in the US and Canada? I've met some heroes who couldn't even communicate in their native language but that didn't stop them from being nationalistic fanatics, racists and hating Muslims as if their mothers got banged by them. It's the ones who don't speak their language, and never been to Iraq who are the biggest fanatics and racists. The same thing I have seen from Greeks and others who have this deep hatred for Turks as if others have never occupied them or ruled them. It;s just the fact that it was Muslims and not someone else. You don't hear Assyrians hating British for what they did or Germans who supplied Turks with weapons but you always hear the complaints against Muslims. A white person can bang Aprim's sister or any other hero's sister and there wouldn't be this reaction but let that sister of theirs marry an Arab or a Turk and that will be a disaster.

I still don't understand how these people feel more related to an English, French or and American but not to a Kurd, Arab or Turk. These are the people you lived with all your lives and the others are an ocean removed from you. I guess they want to be white as possible. I seen a a Christian Iraqi refugee eat pork and admitted he never ate it before and even hates it. He was doing it to show he is not anything like a Muslim. As if White people will like him and not call him a nigger or towel head.
