The US works like the old mob protection rackets. The mob would send a couple of goons to muscle-up and slap around a business owner and vandalize his store. The following day, another guy would show up - and out of concern and friendship - he'd offer to "protect" the proprietor from future threats and damage. If the business owner turns him down, the next day his store goes up in flames. That's how the gangsters in Washington offer friendship and protection. It's a costly relationship (and a profitable venture). --------------------- |
