very interesting information and makes perfect sense as well. Eli Smith also visited the area and even mentions his friendly encounter with Malik Khoshaba yet throughout the book there is no mention of any "Assyrians" but both Chaldean and Nestorian is used. It makes much sense that these Nestorias were one time Jews. Keep in mind that Nestorianism was closer tpo Judaism than to Christianity. early Nestorianism was much different from today and the concept held by Nestorous was that Jesus(peace be upon him) was not God but rather his representative on earth and that he was the messiah. This was also the belief held by the earliest followers of Jesus(Ebionites, Nazareans). This was blasphemous to Christians of course. Then, in order to appease Rome, Nestorians changed it to Jesus being partially divine only while alive but not at first nor in the end. This was rejected as well, and as with all who differed with "true Christianity" the Nestorians became heretics. Today it's different as Nestorianism has changed and has much more to do with mainstream Christianity than with Judaism or any purely monothestic religion.
