I think all information, be it religious or secular, can be useful when examined with a clear, un-biased mind. I've taken things out of Christianity, Buddhism, Existentialist Philosophy, Marx's early works, Freud, and incorporated them - as I understand them - into my way of perceiving the world. I don't consider myself religious, political or a fanatically, selective athiest like Hitchens, Harris and Maher. I refuse to limit myself and confine myself within narrow borders of thought and being.
