The guys I like are Finkelstein, Chomsky, Parenti, Tariq Ali. Ali, well, he's been on the front lines since the '60s and he never flipped like his former comrade, Hitchens. Parenti is the antithesis of Chomsky: Mediterranean-blooded, who yells and jokes, but is always on point, and like Georgie Galloway (forgot about him), he has this undercurrent of hoolinganisim, yet, the eloquence of a sage. Chomsky, who's probably the brightest of the bunch, puts me to sleep with his monotone voice (I need a good cup of qahvah turk before I listen to his talks). And then there's Norman, who like a serious, young Rabbi, is only concerend with the law, that is, International Law, and, of course, "the historical record". I find him to be quite pragmatic. For instance, regarding the "Right of Return" for the Palestinan refugees, his position is: "...about wanting to implement the right of return, it becomes a question of how much force we can muster to gain its implementation. In my opinion it will require more force to implement than a full Israeli withdrawal, where there is what you call a 'strong' international consensus on both inssues, but it's weaker on the issue of the right of return of the refugees. To turn a 'weak' in international consensus into a 'strong' one requires mustering force, and I don't know how much force can be mustered." I have the utmost respect for Norman, for the battles he has fought and the ones he is fighting. After the second Lebanon War of 2006, he went balls-out and declared his solidarity with Hizb'allah on television and rebuked the Lebanese for bending over backward for Bush when he was scheduled to visit Lebanon after the fightng ceased. Norman's stance was: "before the bodies are buried, before the buildings are rebuilt, the person who's responsible for it all [Bush] - you can't wait to welcome him. You can't wait to roll the red carpet. In that respect, I like the Jews more. You know what the Jewish attitude is? Never forgive, never forget." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bDe65-nFeFQ
