They sure picked the wrong person to be the editor. Not only is this an amateur talking about errors, but he doesn't even back it up with anything. Of course he won't show what sources he has because we know what it is. Joseph is hard to swallow for the nationalists because he is proving something to be contrary to their views. They don't care about qualifications because they just "know" he is wrong. This is so silly and laughable. It's like me, an amateur in the field of law, telling an attorney that he is full of errors. Not only that but I can't even support my claim. He starts with the usual lie and doesn't show any evidence. They did not call themselves "aturaye" for thousands of years, and if they had, there be no need to pretend syrian and assyrian are the same. Jospeh spent years researching and skimmed through pages upon pages of syriac records and not one person on there called himself an assyrian nor had an assyrian name.

Again, we are told how the nestorians preserved and translated the works of greeks, yet nothing about assyrians. If these people were assyrian at all, would they not have written about themselves which had a great story of their own and far better than the greeks? How come they weren't interested in it? Is it because they "forgot" or lost interest or maybe they weren't assyrian at all and knew nothing of them? I take the last option. The church would not have added its name in 76 but would have had it all along and we would have seen people, tons of them, calling themselves aturaye and not suraye, which was used by all syriac christians. Those who began calling themselves assyrians in the west knew that it wasn't the same as syrian and that's why the change. Just because they sound similar don't mean they're identical, and that's what the nationalists bank on. They want to deceive and try to fool everyone but it hasn't worked. Even chaldeans and syriacs today will call themselves suraye without an objection but will raise hell when they are called aturaye. Why would they if it's the same? It's because they never saw it that way and it never was. Aprim and the nationalists just can't accept the fact that there were no assyrians for over 2000 years and that the syriac christians weren't calling themselves that. John joseph, like albert hourani, is a historian on middle east, which includes iraq, syria, mesopotamia and these dweebs.

At least we got a start with this clown. When you said iraqi and buys the usualy story, I thought he was an arab and I was beginning to call him a dumb arab who is ignorant but then I read his first paragraph and knew he was another one of the heroes.
