Briefly...John Nimrod's sister contacted me around 1994 or so. We met in San Francisco by the Ashurbanipal Monument....later she asked to buy a copy of the head from the monument for the museum she built in their AUA headquarters....soon after that she commissioned me to make portraits of ten Assyrian kings and then a few more pieces. When funding for the Shumirum ran out she stepped in and provided $120,000 to finish it. She was thrilled when the city of Chicago gave us a great location near the campus of the University of Chicago a block from the world famous Oriental Institute where many Assyrian originals are housed.

John Nimrod decided he didn;t like the location and out of respect for him the Arts Council allowed him to suggest alternate sites....when he never contacted them again after three years they decided to go ahead and instal the monument to coincide with an AANF convention....great, we thought. That was when Nimrod wrote a letter threatening to sue the city if they installed the monument...and everything stopped. For all these years since 2000 the monument has been stored in the foundry here in California...instead of showing our neighbors our "pride", one megalomaniac and "true Christian" made fools of us...the city of Chicago has never experienced anything like this.

Nimrod wanted the monument for himself.,..to adorn his AUA headquarters and he was simply trying to get the city to reject the monument...the damn fool really expected me to deliver the monument to him...because his sister paid for it. Helen Nimrod died while her brother was doing this...she died without being able to unveil the monument SHE had paid so much for.

Now that he's dead...maybe we can carry on.

Incidentally before she died Helen commissioned me ($90,000) to make portraits of her, her first husband, her two sons and even her brother John....Helen and her huisband, fabulkously wealthy and successful, had donated money to Northwestern University and were to have a theatre building named for them...she wanted the two bronze busts of her husband and herself for the building...for the lobby...another great honor for all of us.

She had sent me a $20,000 down payment and photos and I was at work on them when she died....when I contacted her brother about completing her legacy he told me I made the whole thing up, that I was trying to get money out of her estate, that there had been no such commission because "she tells me everything"....so I found an Assyrian lawyer in Chicago and sued the son of a bitch...actually that was also a reason he blocked the Shumirum...at a meeting in a hotel he told me that he would drop his opposition if I dropped the lawsuit...I told him to suck eggs.

Helen's two sons are multi-millionaires many times over and their law firm represented John, their uncle. This is an international firm with offices in Europe as well as the States. Luckily for me John's wife, Inga, and I became close and I had a letter from her telling me that "the senator knows allabout the portraits and approves"....she was supposed to get me photos of him, in secret, but he found out....but, he told his lawyers that he knew nothing about it and I was making it up...and that the $20,000 had been a gift and if I wasn't careful they would demand that I return it....the whole thing ended when my lawyer sent a certified copy of the letter from John's wife to the lawyers and they saw, first-hand, what a lying sack of shit our "hero" was....they settled out of court for the full amount.

John Nimrod is another in a long series of disgraceful people who USE the Assyrian name to further their own shabby character and portfolio...Ken Joseph is another one.
