Che's value is that he tried.....tried the almost impossible....against all odds....his mistakes in Bolivia were huge...but as a revolutionary his heart was in the right place....I felt he was doomed when he let a patrol of Bolivians go by....he commented that the soldiers were mere boys, 16, 15....they joined the army to feed their families. That's a a noble sentiment but completely out of place...the solider you allow to live may be the one to capture you tomorrow. Revolution is nasty business, but so is what causes it.

Maybe there's no connection but today the United States is out of Latin America and Hugo Chavez is in.

Mark Twain was disgusted by King Leopold of Belgium who had a bounty placed on Congolese....he paid for each pair of hands cut off. But then Twain was disgusted by his own country....read "To The Person Sitting in Darkness"....or "The Effects of Civilization". He felt the United States betrayed itself when it took over lands liberated from Spain and started down the path to Empire.

Has the American Revolution been a success?
