"I've met numerous Muslims named either Isa or Massih (Meshikhah), but I'd never met an Assyrian guy named Muhammad Bet Sargon."

An Assyrian with name Muhammad? Try finding a Christian, educated or not, who can even carry a conversation about Muslims without using foul words or insults toward Muhammad. There are more than a 160,000 books available which are anti-Islam and authored by Christians. I don't know about you but that's a lot of fucking books. There are zero anti-Christian books authored by Muslims. Sure, Muslims have engaged in dialogues with Christians, debated etc but never insulted Jesus nor his mother. Referring to Jesus as prophet, messiaha, and messenger of god are disrespectful to Christians and the only thing they can say negative about Muslims toward Jesus is that they won't call him "god".

Your father was a wise man for teaching you that and I was brought up similar where I couldn't bow to anyone. I can respect, love etc but never bow or worship someone. This I guess made things easy for me when I entered Islam because Muslims only worship god and none else. I can also relate to what you went through as an Iranian because to these people your race makes you a Muslim. If you're an Arab, Kurd, Turk, Iranian etc, no matter what you do, you can never be a real Christian and will always be seen as a Muslim. I have noticed that even when an Assyrian girl would marry a Muslim in Iraq and they would say "she has become a Muslim after him" and this would always confuse me because I would ask if she herself converted or only married a Muslims. I would get yelled and a cussed out for asking such simple question because to them marrying a Muslims is prohibited and one becomes a Muslim by doing so.

I never encountered any problems when I was Muslim and even when people who were closer to me by ethnicity(Kurds, Arabs, Turks, Iraqis) would see me and knew I was Assyrian, they would get more happy and I am dead serious but everyone of them always told me how I was better than them because I became and found Islam on my own rather than simply being born into it like most are. I have lived on both sides and know both well. Assyrians are the worse humans on earth and it is Christians, not Muslims, who are filled hatred. Just surf the net if you are bored and see what Christians have to say about Islam/Muslims and compare who is nicer, kind and respectful. It's very easy to notice especially if you are open minded and neutral.
