..of all the rationals and goals put forth as reasons for waging modern warfare, no one will come out and say that war is, next to the Church, the best business there is....wars are fought for all the reasons mentioned, but they are also fought in and for themselves...just to make money, never mind what opportunities open up as a result down the road which might also be highly profitable. If nothing more came from a war but the direct and immediate profit to warmongers, they'd still fight them....the rest is just gravy, even if it's tons of gravy, even if the gravy swamps the turkey...if there was NO gravy, they'd be even more eager for the immediate money to be made, on the turkey, by selling bullets and boots and hot lunches.

You have to get the turkey first, before the gravy...and a turkey, even without gravy, is better than no turkey at all....
