...I'll trust this guy...but I found the idea that the military has "analyzed" the Vietnam war and found ways we could have "won" that war absurd. How many of these wars do we have to "lose" before people begin to see that they were never meant to be won? How many "failures" does it take before we see the success-in-failure that these wars are all about?

"..where's the military or political danger to our country from losing these wars? Are we going to be invaded and occupied? Would North Vietnam have taken Hawaii from us as a price of the peace if they'd won? How could Iraq "win" this war....? Any idea how much business would have been lost if that war ended in three days? It sort of did end in a week...but there was no real money in that...the real bucks came when we declared war on Iraqi children and civilians....because that was unending.

Is the Cancer Society getting any less money because they keep losing the war on cancer?"

- I agree that the "unwinable war" factor is the oil that keeps the military industrial complex running smoothly. Stockwell even reiterates numerous times citing different books about the MIC, which I think he calls the "war complex".

But I think the analysis of wars like Vietnam, a war in which we fought a people, not just strictly an army, or Afghanistan and Iraq, are analyzed to better equipt the domestic military arm of the capitalist class to wage an endless war on the tax paying American people. The war on public opinion has turned into the war on the public for having an opinion. The raids and the use of force on the Occupy movement clearly sets the stage for this new war.
