Actually it's not bogus, it's a well-established fact. Take the Haplogroup R1b for example, R1b's highest frequencies are found in Western Europe. But the cumulative genetic diversity, which is accrued over time is observed in Southwest Asia. High genetic diversity determines the place of origin. Virtually all Y-DNA and mtDNA haplogroups that Europeans belong didn't originate in Europe, but rather were introduced there during the Neolithic period.
