>So you’re saying that if the rebels succeed, then they have done the right thing, but if they failed, then they have committed sedition and therefore they must be justly punished?

...no one says that rebels, or invaders must be right and true...they can be rat bastards, it doesn´t matter...under international law if you steal someone´s land and keep it long enough, it´s legally yours....all nations are built on theft and murder of Natives....had George Washington been caught, he would have been hanged without benefit of trial and no firing squad either, as was reserved for gentlemen...but hanged like a criminal...but he won, so he´s a hero and father of his country.
>
>Aside from the Levies, what if the rebels had a just cause, or a legitimate claim? What if they were revolting against an unjust regime?

...you take your chances....if you lose it´s treason and a rope, if you win you´re the hero and you can hang the past government...there is nothing fair or just about it...it´s just the way the game is played.

>Was Saddam justified in gassing the Kurds and the Shia?

...is any national leader justified for his crimes? They all say they had good reasons....what else would they say? As far as the Kurd gassing there is evidence that this wasn´t done by Saddam, but itdoesn´t matter....if the nations of the MidEast were forced, by circumstances, or chose to join the we-are-one-people campaign, then they have to use force....look at Ireland where Christians have been killing each others children fore centuries...was Britain justified? Yes, if you believe that a nation must protect its territories and put down insurrection...the Spanish are just as determined to keep the Basues from rebelling as was Saddm to keep the Kurds part of Iraq...they are all the same but Muslim countries have yet to have their Renaissance or Reformation...islam is 700 years younger than Christianity...go back 700 years in Christian history and you´ll every kind of crime under the sun....Islam had been bedeviled by a conservative stranglehold, much like Europe was during what is known as the Dark Ages...Europe moved forward when the civil governments muzzled the church....islam needs such an airing out...and it will come one day.

>I don't get it. Why is it not ok for a Christian to work for the Americans while many Muslims are doing it?

...It´s not okay for Muslims either...many more Muslim collaborators have been killed than Christian...what gave you the idea that Iraqis are okay with Muslims working for the Americans? As a Muslim, an Iraqi is running just as agreat a risk if he collaborates as is a Christian...maybe even worse because the treason is not just against the state but against Allah as well. The Iraqis who have joined the police and army have done so because there is other work in the country...they do it for the pay...and they are going to catch righteous hell when their American masters leave.

...when the Americans leave you´re going to see these puppets run right back out of the country, go into hiding or get killed...as they deserve...as the French did to the Vichy officials when WW II ended...
