I met a woman in my neighborhood who was living in Paris during the '70s. She was dating a man who was funding Polanski's films. When I told her about my dream of being a filmmaker like a Godard or a Bertolucci, she laughed hysterically. She said most of the time film artists are busy chasing moneyed people to back their projects -- an incredibly stressful endeavor. I was wondering if the art world is similar in the same manner, in that, artists have to schmooze and rub elbows with business people whom they don't necessarily like, but must befriend in order to get the much needed dollars for their projects. Is this true with artists such as yourself? Because after seeing this documentary, I became even more depressed about making films. Here's the HBO schedule of the date and time the film will be shown: http://www.hbo.com/#/schedule/detail/Seduced+and+Abandoned/591875 --------------------- |
