The postwar planners already had their pawn (The Shah) to provide the control of the Mid-East energy resources. Since their house boy got booted by his own people, leaving his "beloved" country by filling two airplanes full of cash, jewels and other expensive goods; they needed a reason to get the whole pie, whereas with the Shah, they got 80% or so of the pie, and without him, they got nothing. So now they want a war to take over the whole region, before the Chinese and the Russians make their way there before them. The difference with the Chinese and the Russians is economics, but with the Americans is strictly fire power. John Wayne bullshit.. Of course Iran is no match to the superpower.. but neither was Vietnam.
