The jizya days are gone now, brother. When I think about how our grandfathers fell for the british who had promised us things, and I see now how backwards we have fallen, I would say the jizya days were far better. When you look at what some of the nationalists demand, such as preservation of language, culture, religion, autonomy, etc, this is what we had under the ottomans and the arabs, and after having betrayed the countries we lived in, we are expecting that? We had it better and would have been just fine, but things have changed since then and it's a different region now. I can understand this may be new to you because I was brought up the same way until I started reading real history books and not those absurdities written by our nationalists who are a bunch of amateurs. That reading, research and challenging the nationalists, of which I was part of and friends with, ended up getting me banned from some other forums.
