Good point... I haven't watched many courtroom films because I hate the ending when so-called "justice" is served and everyone in the courtroom applauds and starts dancing. This is part of the Hollywood formula that makes me shit each time I watch one of these films. Like that piece of shit "Scent of a Woman", for which Pacino was awarded best actor. Pacino should have won for "Serpico" but Jack Lemon was given the Oscar in '73 for "Save the Tiger", I like Lemon. Then the following year, Pacino should have won for "The Godfather Part II", but Art Carney won for "Harry and Tonto", a well-deserved win. In '75, Pacino should have won for "Dog Day Afternoon", but Nicholson stole the show for his portrayal of McMurphy in "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest", and in '79, Pacino should have won for the court drama, "...And Justice For All", but Dustin Hoffman was given the Oscar for "Kramer vs. Kramer" ... he won the award for one scene... where he slaps the water glass against the wall in the restaurant. Hollywood is a fickle fuck mob. Peter O'Toole has never won an Oscar (I, like Brando, don't care for awards), but fucking Peter O'Toole? "Lawrence of Arabia", "Lord Jim", "Becket"??? "My Favorite Year", and his last great, and most recent performance in "Venus"?

Anyway, the only courtroom film I like, aside from "...And Justice For All" is "Judgment at Nuremberg" only because I was transfixed by Maximilian Schell's explosive acting. My Jewish film partner and I argue about the acting of Monte clift, he thought he was great, I thought he was loaded on pain killers and going through the motions.

But I will check out Otto's film, and I also want to see the film about Loeb and Leopold, again.. I think it's called "Compulsion" ... I mistake it with the brilliant Polanski film, "Repulsion" starring the beautiful, talented Catherine Deneuve, who was brilliant in Spanish filmmaker, Luis Bunuel's "Belle de Jour".
