US mounts major Iraq assault by Jay Deshmukh

BAGHDAD (AFP) - US troops in Iraq launched a major assault against Al-Qaeda-linked militants and alleged Iranian-aided extremist groups on Monday as a Sunni leader accused Iran of plotting genocide against his people.

..in the first place there's nothing wrong with being a "militant"...militantly protecting your nation, home and family, from external assault, never mind what high-falutin terms your assailants give themselves and how they disguise their attacks aginst your children.

..any American would do the same against any coalition of Muslim nations come to America to "liberate" anybody...or steal oil.

..now we have two bogus "outside forces" fueling the civil war...al qaeda, the usual suspect and now Iran...when all along it's been the Christians attacking Iraq who are the "outside forces" people are mobilizing against.

..finally, anyone Americans shoot automatically becomes a "militant" and a "fighter". They pulled the same crap in Vietnam. They killed whoever they felt like killing and then called the corpse a "communist infiltrator"...or "enemy operative". The sad truth is that every Iraqi is indeed an "enemy"...at least that's the way the Americans see them..."if you're not with us, you're against us". At that rate every Iraqi "with them" is a collaborator, merely buying some time by associating with the very people who'd kill him in an instant if he was "against them", which he would automatically be if he didn't work "with them".

..the only good thing to come of it is that the collaborator who buys a little time and secures some material benefit will ultimately be left to suffer a horrible death...very like the one he's consigned several of his fellow Iraqis to...by being an informant and collaborator.

..it isn't much consolation..but it's justice.
