Why Do I Pick On Fred Aprim?

Properly speaking, I don’t. But since he puts himself out there in public as a writer and one presumes therefore a thinker and since I’ve known him to be ever careful to avoid direct confrontation of his ideas, for obvious reasons…and since I believe no one is above being challenged and asked to explain him or herself…and since he avoids me and others like the plague thinking perhaps that if he doesn’t look then we don’t exist and, further, as he seeks to confirm “intellectually” and with “books” and pontifical pronouncements, his point of view from behind a wall, he leaves me no choice but to yank him over it by the shirt collar, against his wishes, and have my way with him.

I’d far rather have a more worthy opponent who’d come out into the open on his own two legs…but that’s his choice to make but to date he’s chosen not to make it.

Our people, like most people, aren’t taught to think. Regardless of how we turn out, most of us started life in the musty smell of the church…where preposterous statements, taken at face value, is the norm…then too, if we have had “national” parents, we grew up with another set of outlandish statements that are beyond all challenge and just as much against reason as anything the church puts out. That doesn’t mean they might not be true, just that each of us is expected not to exercise our minds by evaluating them, but to take in whatever information is presented without question…and to refuse to question or live in fear of our own mind and its natural curiosity, which every infant and cat has in abundance, is to relinquish our claim to humanity from the very start of our fact-crammed lives, which we’re told have been generously and most lovingly thought out for us ages ago by dusty old men, so we needn’t bother to confirm anything and besides, why be so ungrateful to mummy and daddy who bought you toys?

Personally I feel nine-tenths of it is humbug and hooey and this is the reason Fred Aprim and so many of our “intelligentsia” behave more like hesitant and fretful children…because in posing intellectual challenges you’re reminding them that they were raised to be “good”, which meant unquestioning and so they react as if you’re trying to wipe their childhood out…and in a way, you are…but only because they’re well past childhood and should put aside childish things…or at least take another look, as free and thinking adults. There’s nothing wrong with having been a child, but there is something wrong in remaining a childish intellectual, childish nationalist and childish politician.

Fred Aprim makes himself into fair game. He does himself a disservice, sort of painting a bullseye on his forehead, by not defending himself…not unless he is assured that moderators will promise to protect his awesome magnificence ahead of time and remove any challenger and his challenege with a push of a button, no matter how respectful and well-phrased and reasoned…actually a real and factually based challenge is the kind he dreads most, because he has to rise to the occasion, so that once again Assyria is being represented by its weakest examples, puffed and fluffed up with hot air, mollied and coddled by the rest of us, so they won’t be discomfited in any way.

This leaves our “champions” standing firmly on feet of clay, singularly unfit for anything outside the nursery… terror stricken by the prospect that in order to achieve these noble-sounding ideas, they will have to leave home, walk out of their bedrooms and confront a mostly hostile or nit-picking world, with no other weapons than those they should have been encouraged to develop fully all along, rather than put aside as potentially dangerous to themselves, family and church, in favor of being knighted and anointed by the rest of us, just because they are Assyrian, “by gads”…and that should be enough.

It seems to me that since anyone writing on the internet, especially, can’t hide…that it would be better to come out swinging your mind and flexing your head…to at least go down fighting, if you must go down…rather than lay there passively to get stomped and go down for a certainty. The choice is his…but I’d rather fight FOR my beliefs than be martyred WITH them...ahem.
