Well, of course, it doesn’t. But more importantly why does Magpie and so many, if not all, of our nationalists believe this? How could anyone seriously believe that the entire world, or any fraction of it, has anything to fear from THEM? The answer lies in their own sense of unworthiness for the lofty title they’ve given themselves….they know the world sees them as frauds or, at the best, harmless relics… a sort of curiosity. And they’re painfully aware that they’ve made a very poor showing indeed if they’re from such “noble” stock. The only way to cover their shame is by overcompensating….what the world really feels about them, when it bothers to think about them at all, is, literally, nothing much. So they overcompensate for this by insisting that the world is just too afraid of them to be able to deal with them and so it hopes that by ignoring them they’ll go away…people are afraid of what actually do them harm…in a clearing it’s right to be afraid of a lion…but not a mouse. Yet this mouse of ours thinks when people turn their back, or set a mouse trap, that it’s a sure sign of their FEAR.

To Magpie, the only reason someone wanted a posting on Wikipedia removed is because “they are afraid of Assyrians”…it never dawns on her that hundreds of articles are challenged every day…or that there are people who might actually care about accuracy…as she and the rest of them obviously don’t.

And that’s the case with all the other instances in which they believe they see the “real truth” behind an event or statement; that’ at its core is a “fear of Assyrians”. When Maggie gets a speeding ticket she must ask herself, “now why is that police officer afraid of Assyrians?” She would never think that the ticket meant she was speeding…that’s just the pretense, the excuse. The real reason is “fear of Assyrians”.

The First World War was probably fought because Europe was “afraid of the Assyrians”. And the treaty talks at Versailles hinged on “fear of the Assyrians”. Like any child our nationalists put themselves at the center of the universe…it revolves around them, or should. But when they get no positive reinforcement of their Assyrianess…they decide that all the “bad” things that happen to them are really BECAUSE of the fear of their Assyrianess….people are afraid of them, that’s what motivates them to do the things they do.

If you laugh your head off at them they see it as a sign of nervous fear…you’re so damn afraid and paralyzed by not knowing where to hide or run that you do as the song advises…you whistle. Or laugh…to hide your fear. If they don’t get someone else’s land it can only be because “they are afraid of Assyrians”….if what they demand isn’t forthcoming it’s again because “people are afraid of Assyrians”. There’s no way on earth to convince them that no one is afraid because anything you do is proof, to them, that you ARE afraid! And if you just plain ignore them, then you’re REALLY afraid…so afraid you can only pretend that they aren’t there.

It’s the case of the classic paranoiac who causes such a stir in public that people are compelled to take notice of his bizarre behavior…only to have him call out “why are you people whispering about me and STARING?” Because you’re acting WEIRD, dummy. But that isn’t what he thinks…he thinks he’s perfectly normal and people are out to “get” him. He never thinks that if he stopped twitching and mumbling to himself and then catching people “secretly” staring at him…no one would pay him any mind….but that’s just the problem…such people have been ignored to the point of developing a pathological sense of nonentity. Unknowingly they engage in behavior that can’t fail but to get them noticed…but the ways in which they seek attention are by necessity weird and unwholesome…because they know no other way…none that is as quick and even painless, in the sense that they don’t really have to develop any skills or accomplishments…they just have to be weird and claiming you’re a direct descendant of Ashurbanipal is pretty damn weird.

What a way to make yourself important.
