...assyrians are infamous for suing, or saying they will, at the drop of an insult...you can't sue for being insulted...you have to prove you were HARMED, actually harmed and not just bruised to the ego....the other thing they don't get is the legal definition of what constitutes a threat.....if I say I will spit on you if you do X...I'm not threatening you...I am promising. To be an actual and legal threat there has to be the possibility or intention of physical harm....if I say I will kick you if you do X, that's a threat...if I say I will piss in your tea, that's not a threat, it's a promise.

I was once threatened by an assyrian, well actually it was twice and the second time it was by three assyrians...but later for that. The first threat came when I had just started on these thingies, before we had our own....it came in the form of a post addressed to me on AINA in which I was told, "we know where you live and don;t be surprised if we show up one night"...or words to that effect. The post didn't say exactly what would be done to me, but it was certainly implied.

Needless to say I wasn't worried a bit...if there's anything I've learned in 15 years of posting and dealing with assyrian heroes is that you only have to worry when your back is turned to them......anyway, for fun, I called my local cops and told them about the threat, also that these were probably Iraqis (why not benefit where you can)...a squad car was at my house, out in the country, in no time...the officer in charge sat at my computer and had the name and address of the chump who made the threat...the cops then contacted AINA, the black eye of assyria, and told them to be more careful in the future, or else....that was the last threat I got via email.....dummies.

I've never understood TELLING someone you're going to do him harm...why would you alert him and put him on his guard? Unless you were just trying to scare him...in which case you set yourself up for needless retaliation...I mean, what if he takes you seriously?

When I had my group home for jubilant delinquents in Seattle a neighborhood pimp and wannabe gangster befriended my kids....to sell them stuff of course. He used to come over at times and play around...harmless enough...a bit of a wuss but he talked a good game. He was a natty dresser except, I thought, for the fingernail of his right pinkie, which was long and filed to a point. When I asked him about it he said that unlike in the movies when you felt a confrontation coming on you did NOT act tough...instead you got all soft and conciliatory, coming towards the other guy in a shy and sideways manner, looking to appease and please, and as soon as you were in range you jabbed that sharp fingernail into his eye...none of the "put up your fists" bullshit.

As Brando says in "Waterfront"..."do it to the other guy before he does it to you".
