...this is the greatest crock ever; the accusation that Iraq , or anyone else, "denies" the Assyrian heritage. Talk about lies. Iraq and any sane person is not convinced that Assyrians all turned to Christ and this somehow "kept them Assyrian". All they mean by that is that it kept them MARRYING Christians who believed this...any Assyrian marrying a non-Chriatian/Assyrian somehow lost all his or her "genes" and could no longer be "Assyrian"...if that doesn't expose this fraud I don't know what would.

..Iraqis have worked dilligently to preserve the Assyrian heritage, the REAL one. They left it to the Christians to preserve their own. Any interference from the government came as a direct result of political stupidity on the part of the Christian rabble, or those who got carried away when the Europeans looked at them admiringly as if they were THE Assyrians...it went to our heads like we always fall down and grovel at the feet of any white man who smiles at us.

Kurds don't "deny" the Assyrian identity or heritage...they simply refuse to be impressed by the exclusive claim Christians stake to it...also they don't see any reason or precedent for "giving" these people what they don't earn. Sometimes I think our "nationalists" are nothing more than those who, as children, were spoiled and catered to by their mothers...who felt as if their hairy darlings were superstars and forced the daughters to serve the little lords hand and foot...so that they developed a sense of entitlement...since from the beginning every drool, and spit and fart and turd of this paragon was cause for wonder and celebration, little Solomon grew up expecting this sort of subservience to his will...and when he realized he was the heir of Ashurbanipal it came very naturally to him to demand his land back...like he always got the fattest meatball or biggest piece of cake....along with the fullsome praise heaped on him when he managed to get good grades on math tests...or hammered out a painful tune on the piano. You can see this still operating when we contemplate some under-talented over-pimpled Assyrian kid..."whatever he is, he is ASSYRIAN!!!"...not realizing we've just enthroned mediocrity.
