...the Jews of Europe have suffered from periodical pogroms, ethnic cleansing, crimes against humanity and genocide, as well as having their children taken from them etc. The second and third Crusades began with the slaughter of the Jews the Crusading armies found in their path as they crossed Europe on their way to kill Muslims. The historical record is clear that Christians have been persecuting and murdering Jews since the Romans killed Christ and blamed it on them. The Hollocaust was merely one more and to date the most horrific and efficient, of many such government-sponsored and church-sanctioned attacks....the only thing new about it was the mechanized/industrialized way it was conducted...but in principle it was merely one more of a long list of such crimes perpetrated by Christians against Muslims...oops! I meant Jews.

But who can show anything similar in the Ottoman Empire? Where is the evidence that Turks have been systematically persecuting their Christian citizens for all those years the Christians were hunting down Jews? The record is quite the opposite with Jews living and thriving in Turkish lands as well as climbing to positions of wealth and power within the government, same as Christians.

The very fact that from almost nowhere attacks were made against the Christians of the Empire, something without precedent for centuries, should indicate that something drastic happened quite suddenly to so alter a well established and enviable and unprecedented record of tolerance for Judaism and Christianity....and that was the declaration of war against the Ottomans by Christian nations who lured Christian citizens of the Empire to take up arms against their own country on behalf of those who wished to destroy it.

The Turks could no more determine who was the guilty Armenian from the innocent Armenian than the United States could tell which Japanese American posed a threat, if any did....instead they rounded them all up and imprisoned them...and robbed them, just to be sure.
