...is like a time warp...like traveling back to 1933 and listening to the most reasonable account of why Jews are a threat to European society. Jew-haters back then believed their "facts" and nonsense as much as Harris believes his today. There were many famous anti-Jew "scientists" and professors back then too.

...he thinks because he condemns Christianity as well this makes him "fair and unbiased".

...Before this war on Iraq how were Muslims a threat to anyone? Ah yes, those Pirates. But aside from that, when did Islam pose any problem for the United States? And when he recounts the awful things Islam has done, why does he not discuss how awful it is that Christian nations ganged up on Iraq for no reason whatsoever? No good one and certainly not the reasons we claimed in the beginning. How does THAT awful event get left out?

..let's agree that Islam is weird and terrible and stupid...but whatever it was it was hurting none of us. When Americans are left alone and not troubled by, say, a tribe deep in the Amazon, is the "natural" reaction to go and destroy that tribe? Okay, we don't like them, don't understand them, but does that have to be our response? Just why did we destroy Iraq? And by condemning the religion of the United States, does that absolve the United States of the crime it committed in destroying another religious country?

...why do Harris and Hitchens and Dawkins give a pass to the United States and the other Christian countries who participated in this crime?

...if you remove both Islam and Christianity from the discussion, there is nothing to talk about? It's only because of the religions we talk about what has been done to one set of people by another set of people?

...once again; Muslims are fighting back because of what was DONE to them, not because of Muhammad...if they believed in Mugwhump, or Buddha or were atheists they would still resent the murder of their children and destruction of their homes.

...in science, and Dawkins and Harris are some sort of scientists, you look for actual causes. If the sun disappears each night you don't invent a chariot of fire that streaks across the night sky and disappears at the horizon...you try to find the ACTUAL cause, like the rotation of the earth....if disease kills your children you don't invent a god who strikes down sinful children, you begin the study of bacteria and such.....and if you come upon a people whose country has been destroyed and children murdered and all on a pack of lies, you DON'T pick a Prophet as the reason those grieving parents are FIGHTING BACK.

..you look for a rational CAUSE...you look for an actual cause...you look for a NON-metaphysical reason they are fighting back, if you are a real scientist. And there is one, and oddly enough it is the SAME cause which drove the United States to declare war on Japan i.e., we were ATTACKED by them! Our belief in Jesus was not the reason we declared war on Japan...it was their attack on Pearl Harbor...a scientist would quickly see that Muhammad had nothing to do with Muslim anger at the United States..for one thing Muhammad has been around for centuries and Muslims never attacked us, fuck those Pirates.

But, in this case, both Dawkins and Harris revert to metaphysics, to non-scientific explanations for this phenomenon, this desire for revenge....they choose a religious cause instead of a scientific, rational one...they choose to believe that "God made me do it".

..the real explanation is right there, in front of everyone's eyes, no need to drag religion into it, which Harris would be the first to condemn if you brought god into the laboratory,,,but HE drags god in, by his hair, and plunks him down in front of us and says THAT is the reason for this natural occurring phenomenon...you could even make it a law of Nature: "When the children of parents are murdered, those parents will seek to revenge those deaths or at least hold the murderers accountable".

If you break Natural Law there are consequences, always. No need for Harris to start believing in the power of gods all of a sudden, the power of a dead Prophet from centuries ago to be the motivating force behind the reaction, the NATURAL reaction of Muslim parents....he should stick to a scientific explanation...that way lies the truth.

Turns out is Harris who believes in the power of god...Muslims don't need god to motivate their anger and desire for revenge, but Harris does. Harris needs a god as his explanation for why Muslims have reacted with violence to the violence brought to them by us. It is Harris who desperately NEEDS a god in this instance, as his way of "rationally explaining" what is simply a basic law of Nature:Parents don't appreciate you murdering their children and will seek to pay you back.

In their labs Dawkins and Harris might be valid scientists...but good lord how they turn stupid and, strangely, religious believers, away from their lab equipment.
