...every so often it's useful to point out that while assyrian nationalists may know how to wipe their ass, they don't know the definition of English words...words they throw around at will and wipe their asses with...one such word they've never understood is "martyr".

Full Definition of MARTYR
1
: a person who voluntarily suffers death as the penalty of witnessing to and refusing to renounce a religion
2
: a person who sacrifices something of great value and especially life itself for the sake of principle
3
: victim; especially : a great or constant sufferer <a martyr to asthma all his life — A. J. Cronin>

...at it's simplest the word "martyr" means dying FOR a religion or principle not BECAUSE of a religion or principle...and certainly not JUST dying.

..in other words, getting yourself killed because you happen to be of a particular religion, say Islam....doesn't make a martyr of you...but, getting killed because you refuse to renounce a religion or principle, makes you a legitimate martyr.

..assyrians aren't bright enough to get the distinction.. or don't want to because they are supreme opportunists and, just as with their claim to being descendants of the ancient Assyrians, are merely taking advantage of something for their own benefit, in hopes of garnering the world's attention or pity, preferably both.

...whenever an assyrian trips and dies in a Muslim land, he is a martyr....just by dying where Muslims are near an assyrian achieves martyrdom.

...to be a real martyr you have to be given a CHOICE, either to renounce your principles or suffer death...choosing to keep your principles, with a gun pointed at you knowing what will happen and going through with it nevertheless, makes you a martyr...just getting shot in the back, with no choice or chance to renounce anything makes you a victim of murder, not a martyr.

Interestingly enough it is the last definition, which implies no principle at stake, fits assyrians best.

3
: victim; especially : a great or constant sufferer <a martyr to asthma all his life — A. J. Cronin>

...that's the operative word, VICTIM. Also "constant sufferer" fits pretty nicely. In other words, one who continuously gripes, complains and pisses and moans. assyrians are victims of a constant suffering self-pity...that's all.
