....our assyrians don't necessarily resent being un-assyrianized....many are eager to be Anglicized or Americanized or Canadianized...but whatever you do don't Aribize them...or Qurdisize or Muslimize or Turkicize them. That is a tragedy....they can't wait to get their American citizenship but spit on their Iraqi passports.

...come to think of it, why is it so hard for them to remain "assyrian" when they migrate? They stop being Iraqi fast enough, but why does their assyrian heritage leave them in only a few generations if not at the airport? Since they have never lived in "Assyria" but rather only an Arabized version, how come they hadn't internalized their assyrian identity enough that it could withstand transplantation?

In reality they have never been anything, in the last several decades but Iraqis...and indeed they never were "assyrian"....just Iraqi Christians who hated being Iraqi...many of them even manage to give up their COE roots, as they previously gave them up when the missionaries came....the actual reality is that these people are not only NOT assyrians...they were never even Iraqi.

The only thing they have ever been is Christians and they couldn't even hold onto to one version of that....so it's no wonder that they are "losing their identity"....because they never had one to begin with, not really....they've been playing make-believe for so long they've lost all conception of character.

The nationalists especially are no more than a toilet wall you can write anything on.
