...there's some noise in Australia about a senator of theirs who passed a resolution calling on Iraq to "guarantee the rights of Assyrians". What rights?

Never mind that Australia didn't listen when Iraq asked them to leave....why the hell should Iraq listen to anything any Australian has to say? But this sort of thing impresses our dingbats no end...the get all warm and fuzzy whenever a white person notices them...or seems to care about them...no doubt they made heavy campaign contributions to get this "favor".

But....what rights do the assyrians think they deserve in Iraq that the rest of Iraqis aren't entitled to? They have their churches....if someone bombs their church it is a criminal matter to be settled by the police, like a mosque bombing. Do they mean the United States or Australian government must do the investigating? What other rights do they expect? Iraq has always recognized their claim to be assyrians, as they claim that heritage for themselves as well....so? Do they want Australia to DENY the right of heritage to Muslims who are also descended from all the ancients of that blessed land?

What rights DON'T assyrians have that Australia can do anything about? And, since Muslims are treated so poorly in the West and can't get a mosque built, why should assyrians expect any better in Muslims countries?
