...aside from the obvious foolishness of having the same people back, who warned us about Saddam, now warning us about Iran...who are these other spokespeople who so conveniently ape the official government line? No one really mentions their area of expertise....their schooling, their affiliations, their backgrounds, who pays them...nothing. They just appear on news shows and spout.

The dilemma for what we call the Press, is that if you really grill these people, they won't appear on your show again, why would they....and that will lead people to believe that your news outlet is just out of it, because no "experts" will appear where they get asked REAL questions.

The media can't afford to really dig around because they'll lose ratings...millions of Americans could eviscerate O'Reilly and the other hacks on FOX, and elsewhere...but they'll never get the chance because news shows are highly scripted in the sense that they know who to bring on and who to avoid.

Also, newspeople are now paid millions so like most people who suddenly get a lot of money they tend to become conservative and supportive of the status quo...whereas in the great days of muckraking news people were paid hardly anything, as was everyone else, so they identified with the issues of interest to most Americans...now they are part of the elite, maybe not the 1% but certainly in the top 5%....they aren't about to rock the boat even if its sinking......
