...a normal Conservative is one who doesn't like change, unless it consolidates his own position and poses no threat to his cherished beliefs. It turns deadly when, during the "good old days", it included Racism, misogyny or any great injustice was the norm. Hankering for a time and values which shut out or demonized great numbers of people makes a Conservative a destructive force in society, instead of just a steadying one.
