A Very Important Question By:Maggie Yonan Date: 1/27/2013, 4:10 am If the museum of Iraq is filled with nothing but ancient Assyrian artifacts, does that make everyone in Iraq an Assyrian? there are no Arab, or Kurd or any other national artifact except the Assyrian. For example, since the Egyptian museum is filled with nothing but ancient Egyptian artifacts, and therefore everyone in Egypt is an Egyptian, why cannot the same apply to Iraq? Shouldn't the artifacts represent its population? I'm very interested to hear what some of you have to say about this issue. Every Egyptian in Egypt considers themselves the descendants of those ancients. Does everyone in Iraq considers themselves descendants of those ancient Assyrians? and why not? ...there is far more in Iraqi museums than Assyrian art...here is a listing from the Iraq National Museum. You can call yourself whatever you want...but it impresses no one. --------------------- |
