I was shocked, or at least surprised to see the intro to the Olymipcs yesterday, or what is the day before. There was a procession of Native American tribes, all decked out and dancing like there was no tomorrow. After the beautiful procession, 5 chiefs of the tribes gave 5 American athletes blessings in their languages. I couldn't believe that... I mean, the only mention of Native Americans that I remember is a footnote in American history class. The teacher taught us that they used to say "The only good indian is a DEAD indian"... and similar things.

How can we acnowledge that it's rightfully their land, yet ... stick them on reservations and give them casinos and think it's all going to be ok?

On an unrelated note, when I first learned about the Olympics when I was younger, we were told that the various wars would STOP for the olympics, and that enemies would play together, compete against eachother, even get drunk together... and after the games ended, the wars would resume.

Looks like we have "evolved" past that point, though it would be nice to stop this "war" for the Olymipcs. It would show just how ridiculous it all is.
