It has come to my attention that one of the very first maquettes of Ashurbanipal given to an early donor, back in 1985, is up for sale. Two that I know of changed hands since the monument was installed...one to a Middle Eastern gentleman for $10,000.00 and another to an Englishman for $11,000.00.
They were given to people who donated $5,000.00 originally. They were issued in a Limited Edition of 10 and sold out long ago. Anyone who understands these things wont have to be convinced. No, none of it goes to me.
