: i was born in Tennessee in 1977, & soon after my birth, my father left the US for an international conference having to do with his work. my mother, with only her dog & new born baby by her side while he was absent, was to witness a cross burning across the street from my parents' small, one-story house. the man who was responsible for this deed was attempting to get back at his wife, who had just divorced him (gee, i wonder why?). anyway, he & his KKK buddies got together to host a cross burning on his ex-wife's lawn. my mom, a very strong woman, remembered how the dog was barking at the floor that night. earlier that day, she had attempted to open the outside cellar door to no avail... i'm not kidding, my mom's a very strong woman - her arm strength is often stronger than most men's (not that she looks like it). the next morning, while she was doing her watering rounds in the garden, she noticed the cellar door was wide open - apparently the guy who'd set up the cross burning had been hiding out in our cellar (unbeknownst to my mom, who'd definitely have exposed him if she's known) while the police were looking for him. no wonder the dog was barking at the floor...

Did you have the cellar fumigated?
:-)
