my point was not that killing animals or plants is bad, in essence, but that bombing any place affects not only the human community, but the entire area ecosystem. war not only kills people, but it's also really bad for the environment, & that will ultimately come back to haunt the humans that inhabit that environment. the problem w/ the rationale of the Vatican's statement, if it is paraphrased correctly, is that man assumes his priority over the rest of God's creation, even if it is to his own detriment. all the waste, all the pollution - it's starting to affect man - increased childhood asthma occurrences, mental problems, birth defects, cancers, everything... it could be alleviated with a greener perspective, one that acknowledges nature as man's friend & family, & not as some outside force that must be tamed.

i don't think that killing animals for food is bad, so long as it's not wasteful & unnecessarily cruel. read the book The Jungle, & let me know if you ever want to eat anything that's been canned or slaughtered en masse again (though the conditions in the slaughter houses are apparently better now-a-days).
