Surveys show that Americans realize Shrub's efforts to "protect" us will cut into other programs...but are willing to pay the cost to be SAFE!
It's the 50's all over again...this time with "Islamic Terrorists" filling in for "Communist Infiltrators". Other than that the scene is depressingly familiar. The Conservative Religious Fundamentalist Terrorist Right gets to roll back even more of the Constitutional protections...not protections that make us "soft" on Communism or get in the way of "fighting terrorism". But those other often unnoticed little tiny laws and clauses which protect us from the business interests who want an easy avenue to easy riches by feeding off the public tax trough and gobbling up resources...here later, but for now all around the world.
