i can't believe it! who are these people trying to make a connection btwn al-Qaeda & the Iraqi government? don't they realize that the US doesn't want to give the Kurds (or Assyrians) in the north autonomy? how ridiculous would that be - creating another small state in the region - when the US already has an ally in Turkey? what's going to happen, if the US slaughters more Iraqis, is this: another, US-corporation-friendly despot will be placed at the helm in Iraq, OR Turkey will gain parts of north Iraq (& the Turkish government's been so kind to the Kurds, hasn't it?) & said despot will gain control of the rest of Iraq. but breaking up Iraq into a million pieces is not a good thing for the US corporations - these little states will slow down the flow of oil, you see, to the Gulf or to Turkey.
