As an Assyrian-American from Chicago, I was appalled and angered to see that a organization like the Assyrian American National Federation, one that mainly focuses on cultural awareness, would take such a publically pro-war stance regarding this war. As an Assyrian- AMERICAN organization, it has the liberty of voicing disagreement or agreement to Bush's decision to go to war, so it does not have to ultimately back the US govt's in every way.

If they wanted to go ahead and take a political stance, the AANF should have taken a vote among the Assyrians in Chicago. A vote would have been a wonderful idea to get a general idea of what kind of support Bush's decision really has among the Assyrian community in Chicago. I found it truly offensive and even disheartening to see that a non political organization such as the AANF was taking a political stance on this on this war. And to make it even worse, they're publically stating that ALL CHICAGO ASSYRIANS support the war as well.

I guess this is what they mean by unity, eh? If so, then spare me the inconsideration.

Peace-
Stella
