This is part of the reason I didn't attend the AANF convention this year. Honestly, I care about the Assyrians in Iraq, Turkey, & Iran. I will fight for their equal rights in whatever land they exist. However, I'm not an outright nationalist in that I believe that only certain people can have a claim on the Mesopotamian heritage & therefore are superior to everyone else living in that region.

I think the AANF is similar to a church organization because its "leaders" control peoples' minds in the community here in the States to believe that one has to believe whatever tripe they want one to believe to "belong," to be a "genuine Assyrian." See? I don't believe everything the AANF pushes, politically, & I can rightfully claim to be of Assyrian descent (half). They can't control me or what I say or do as such a person. Yet, so many people in this community "choose" to let the AANF dictate their thoughts on certain issues. Those who "belong," who can only make nationalist statements in place of a true argument, are just as blind as any follower of any corrupt religion.
