I was against the U.S.-led attack against Iraq - not because I am a Baathey or whatever, but because I just didn't think it was necessary. I was against the sanctions, & still am. I am only for the creation of a federation now because the attack has made that the only outcome that will bring peace faster. I don't trust the U.S. government to know what is in the best interest of Iraqis (Assyrians, Kurds, "Arabs" who are Assyrian but Muslim) You know, Assyrians live all over Iraq, too, now-a-days, as well as in their old homeland. Splitting Iraq up into different states would affect the Assyrians a lot, as they are already a minority & it would just cut them off from each other politically, making Assyrians into minorities in each state if Iraq was split up into different autonomous states.

As for those people at AINA talking about deportation of Kurds from an "Assyrian" state - obviously that's NOT going to happen. It shouldn't worry you because we don't have the man-power or the money it would take to fight for such a thing, & frankly, I don't think that very many Assyrians (esp. those who I know - not on-line - in the States) want an "Assyrian" state to begin with. It's all just hot air.
