Can you imagine where this glorious Republic would have been had we obeyed the letter of every law?
It was law and Custom once to live in trees and eat meat raw, when you could club it to death and on the run when you couldn't. People fornicated with everything untill they hit on the right combinations. And in every society or clan or motley bunch of people there HAD to be one that was willing to irk, or tweak, or flout the sensibilities and taboos of the rest of his or her fellows or Jackie wouldn't be free to sue me now, and Jeff...and anyone else who shows disloyalty through independence.
It's a long, an old, and a tough fight...and the first stones are usually thrown by those who seem to have no justification whatsoever for what they are doing. Even if technically wrong...we need to get a lot spunkier...or we will be killed off politely...without a whimper.
