Let's go back to when Carter was president and the Iranians had taken some Americans hostage...and with all of America's might and what not...we had to sit and watch those 50 some people sit and wait and wait and wait. Wait for what...you say? For elections.
By the time Carter finally tried a rescue and it failed badly...Reagan was breathing down his neck. Then in October vice presidential nominee George Bush disappeared for some days. As he was the head of the CIA at the time, he could do that. Then in dizzying speed the hostages were set free and a nation so grateful and relieved voted the Republicans into office.
Later when the Iran Contra scandal all but got shoved under the carpet, we learned that Reagan had all kinds of dealings with those nasty Mullahs...but who wanted to stop Reaganomics because that's when fat cat Republicans began chowing down in earnest...and Reagan ended the Clod War...another fiction they made zillions off of.
