Two people did not misread this Kurd, if that's what he really is. But let us assume that he is really a Kurd, since he posted anonymously and there is no way to verify it.

He asks why Assyrians should hate Kurds. I answered him, and I suggest you read my response fully -- better yet, go to www.aina.org/martyr.htm and read it all.

Why should Assyrians hate Kurds? Let me give you 800,000 reasons:

1) Badr Khan Beg killed 50,000 Assyrians in 1843, that's 50,000 reasons right there.

2) The Assyrian genocide of World War One killed 750,000 Assyrians -- 75% of our people. The genocide was engineered by Turks but executed by Kurds, who did the dirty job of actually butchering the Assyrians (and Greeks and Armenians). That's 750,000 reasons right there.

I hope that clears it up for you.

Dear Peter,
When one judges an entire group, race, or religion for the actions of some of the members, even the majority of the members of that group, race, or religion, that is called "bigotry" or "racism".

You may hate all Kurds, but I believe that the majority of our people do not. Do you also hate all Iraqis because you dislike Saddam Hussein? Do you also hate all Iranians because you dislike their president, or the actions of a few, or even a thousand Iranians?

I can't believe this.

It's called reality. Do you expect me to be lovy dovy with the people who killed my grandfather's brother and his family?

Do me a favor, count from 1 to 800,000.
DO you realize the magnitude of that crime?
Do me a favor, count from 1 to 800,000.

Had the genocide not occurred, we would be about 10 million strong now, and almost certainly with our own country.

: I can't believe this

You can't believe that I can feel that way about 800,000 Assyrians being killed? It is I who can't believe that you are not comprehending the magnitude of that crime.

Do me a favor, count from 1 to 800,000.

Reality? Yes.

It is reality that you hate an entire ethnic group because members of that ethnic group killed members of your family.

In the same token, please don't be offended when a black man or a native american sees you walking down the street and shoots you in the face. After all, he was mad at the white people who a) sold his people, and family into slavery or b) drove his people out of his ancestral lands and killed his family.

Didn't anyone ever teach you that two wrongs don't make a... oh, forget it!

: Do me a favor, count from 1 to 800,000.

Peter, there are so many "what if's"... we cannot dwell on the past. Our people were more wronged by the British, by other various ethnic and religious groups, and now, even by America as they starve as a result of the sanctions. Let's not be picky and choosy.

Peter,
I AM comprehending the magnitude of that crime. To what end are we supposed to hate?

Are the Jews supposed to hate the Germans for all eternity, because of the crimes committed against them (which were FAR greater than ours)??

That is just one example of many.

Here's another: The US killed over 1 million Vietnamese in the Vietnam war. Should the vietnamese hate all Americans? Clearly they don't, cnosidering the friendly ad peaceful relations that exist between the US and vietnam.

Do you not see my point of view at all?
