I don't care if someone has a "degree" or not. Like I've posted before, I have a lot of friends who never went to college... some never even finished high school... & yet, these people are brilliant, in my eyes.

I think there are a few people who are snobbish about being academic - this is different from *defending* one's field or one's area of work, regardless of whether or not it is a field that is academic or not. I have a hard time negotiating academic snobs because they don't use their brains to question the social construct they are buying into.
