The need for some Assyrians to count their past losses is a sign of their weakness and a desire for pity. We cannot exact justice from those who are long dead. I think Charles dickens put it best when he asked, "May I tell you why it seems to me a good thing for us to remember wrong that has been done to us? That we may forgive it."
