Rest assured, I surely took no offence whatsoever and I feel/regard the openness and spontaneity of your reaction to be absolutely OK - so basically there is no need for any apology at all:

If you weren't that "brutally" direct/honest then all communicating with you would be wasted anyway... and wouldn't be also fun... and I'd be rather concerned (Hey doctor ...).
Thus in my German mentality - on this point very akin to the Finnish one - I regard your reaction rather as infinitely normal and unproblematic - but otherwise totally unfounded ;)
Also applying to my last remark:
Maybe there's been a simple misunderstanding between us originating from the difference between the British sense for quibs and irony (I'm used to) and the American one (what's your domain).
In any case, however, please be assured:
