Its not what the U.S. Administration wants but rather what the people of Middle East want.

Roman Empire tried that and it didn't work
Alexander the great
Mongol Empire
Ottoman Empire
Russian Empire
British Empire

They all tried that and they never succeeded.

The bottom line of all this is this: U.S wants to make Iraq a beachhead so that it will control and dominate the whole Middle East, politically, economically and culturally. Have you tuned to Radio SAWA lately? You will feel US cultural hegemony in the Middle East. Think strategically and imperially, and all the "hidden agendas" will disappear.
